what is love?
What is love?
LOVE ALWAYS WINS.
soul searching journey
I can not speak for others but I can speak for myself when I can say I thought I knew what love was true love anyway. It hit me that I do not, loving another without thinking of myself can be quite difficult to do.
Sometimes I think I am loving another the way how I ought to love them, but to be honest sometimes I do think about myself. Still to this day I struggle sometimes I stop and ask myself "what is the motive"? I must feel good for doing a specific thing sometimes this mind set makes me feel selfish thinking that way. Maybe one can feel good for doing good but without it being so much about them? I suppose it is a heart matter. I have heard a saying "how will you win if you are not right within"? the motive of the heart speaks volumes. I truly yearn for selfless love I would love to know how it would be to truly live from the heart and how others can benefit from that.

questioning myself
For example me and my son have our ups and downs. It is important for children and their parents to get on well with good communication. Sometimes I will have to have a good word with him and I get upset at times because he will not listen. Often my child will tell me the same thing "mummy you don't listen to me but want me to listen to you" I have high expectations for him to listen to me but because I am the parent unconsciously I don't listen to him because I'm the parent so I must always be right. Which makes me really ask myself is that love? I may be coming from a caring loving place but hearing him out too is also coming from a loving place and showing him the way how love should truly be expressed. Quite often I think we can be quick to talk but not quick to listen, my point is love is not always about doing sometimes it is just about being so simple just be.

Acts of kindness
You see true love does not think of the self. quite often I will do acts of kindness and not be looking for anything in return its a good attribute to have. But how many times do we want to be noticed by others for the good acts that we do? There is nothing wrong with sharing a touching experience with another but what is the motive? is it to make yourself look good? or is showing others that taking care of our fellow man is a good thing for humanity? a round of applause is not needed for doing something from the heart. If loving another as one loves ones self is what drives you there will be no need for others to have it proven to them. I see it on social media a lot, since when did we become a people that would feel proud for getting likes and shares on social media for being kind? why can't we just be?
you see the thing with loving
another with no expectation can only be properly understood when we fully take
ourselves out of the equation. It takes true empathy and the awareness of
our self seeking nature to be able to love in this way, it is both helpful for
the receiver and the giver to share such love. We as humans are an
extraordinary species the energy we possess is very powerful it as the
ability to help repair another. Through life we will go through times of
brokenness but just the touch of love with no expectation
from another can change a life.
thinking of others
True love will not provoke another. This is something faith has showed me, if we are truly living from our hearts there will be no agenda to provoke another. There is so much more to true love, it will never forsake those it truly cares about. you see it in the media the divorce rates are so high, the first sign of problems and instead of dealing with the issues married people run. the words exchanged on that life changing day are forgotten about. what is the point in building a life then walking away from it? Is it selfish? I understand in some circumstances it may be necessary but surely not all! This is where I constantly ask myself do we even understand the true definition of love? Are we more self seeking but not consciously aware of it. We will find fault and complain about the other but never question if it was our behaviour that caused the problem in the first place? putting differences aside and reasoning from the heart would solve a multitude of problems.
In order to love you must feel worthy of it. I guess it may be difficult to receive and give love with the wrong way of thinking and behaving. Love is a universal law that we must adhere to, love others as they grow in spirit and personal growth. I thank God, faith and grace for the insights I have learned to live by.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does dishonour others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, love always perseveres.
